TANFLORA Infrastructure Park Ltd

Tanflora Infrastructure Park was conceived by Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. in the year 1998 in association with private promoters MNA Associates and this park is to be one of the largest facilities in the world in cut roses for exports to Europe, Middle and Far East, Australia, Japan and CIS countries, with an annual production capacity of 67.5 million flowers and this park is coming up in an area of 220 acres at Amudagondapally village, Hosur Taluk, Agri Export Zone of Krishnagiri. 50 hectares of greenhouse area is coming up and this green house area has been divided into 25 units of 2 hectares each.

Being first of its kind in the world, initially for about four years the project has suffered set backs and delay in implementation due to lukewarm response of entrepreneurs to take units and financial institutions to fund floriculture projects. The project has taken off well during the last 3 years and all the 25 units have been allotted. Roads (7.5 km length), Storm water drain (20 km length), Central Packing House (80 000 sq.ft.), one hectare model unit, water facilities, electricity and other infrastructure have been established and growers are putting up their respective greenhouses. At present plantation has been made in 27 Hectares and the entire project is scheduled to achieve commercial production in all 50 Hectares by June 2007. Model Unit has achieved production of 100,000 flowers for the Valentine-06 season and exported them to Germany and Singapore.

The total project cost is Rs 2250 lakhs, out of which TIDCO’s equity is Rs 291 lakhs. Financial assistance has also been received from APEDA and under ASIDE Scheme to the extent of Rs. 331.92 lakhs as subsidy from APEDA and Rs 300 lakhs as subordinate loan under the ASIDE scheme. The project is providing necessary state-of-the-art infrastructure of world class for growing roses. The production facilities are being established (25 units of 2 hectares each) at a cost of Rs 3400 lakhs. State Bank of India is providing term loan facilities to the Park as well as the Growers at a concessional rate of interest.

The project will have own overseas marketing offices in London, Frankfurt, Sydney, Dubai and Osaka. Dr. M.A. Chowdhry, a world-renowned authority on cut roses from Kenya is the foreign consultant for the Park.
